Medium Bowl

Large Spatula

Chef’s Knife

Ingredients

  • Slider Buns: Any style slider bun will work, use what you enjoy eating. Cut in half lengthwise and brush with garlic butter and Italian spices.
  • Garlic Butter: Use softened butter, fresh garlic clove, a little salt, and optional Italian seasonings together for the bread.
  • Mozzarella Cheese Slices: Slices work the best over shredded. You can also opt to use fresh mozzarella cheese for a caprese grilled cheese sandwich option.
  • Bruschetta Mixture: A delightful blend of ripe tomatoes, onion, fresh basil leaves, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and black pepper.
  • Olive Oil: For brushing the skillet.
  • Fresh Basil Leaves: For garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Traditional Bruschetta Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine diced ripe tomatoes (seeds removed), finely diced onions, thinly sliced fresh basil leaves, a drizzle of olive oil, a splash of balsamic vinegar, and a pinch of black pepper. Let it marinate at room temperature while you prepare the sliders.
  2. Assemble the Sliders: Take your slider buns and cut them in half horizontally. In a bowl combine softened butter and fresh garlic. You can also mix in some red pepper flakes for heat or Italian seasonings. Then lightly brush the cut sides with the garlic butter mixture. Keep the sliders intact so you’re working with two large pieces of bread.
  3. Cook the Sliders: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Place one piece of bread, cut side down onto the skillet, and then layer it with the slices of mozzarella. Add the second slice of bread over the top with the garlic butter side facing up. Cook over medium-low heat until golden brown and crispy. Flip and repeat until the sides are a nice golden brown and the cheese is melted (about 2-4 minutes per side).

  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

For The Grilled Cheese Sliders

  • With a sharp serrated knife, evenly slice the slider buns lengthwise.
