Ingredients

  • 12 Mini Brie Wheels
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Thyme
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • Oil for shallow pan frying

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes.
  • Divide the seasoning mixture evenly between the flour and the panko breadcrumbs. Mix well to incorporate.
  • In one shallow dish, place the seasoned flour. In a second dish, whisk the eggs until smooth. In a third dish, place the seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
  • Dip the floured brie into the egg, ensuring it's fully coated. Then place it into the flour and toss and coat until covered.
  • Dip the brie wheel in the egg again. Roll the brie in the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs. Repeat the process with all the brie wheels, setting them on a plate or tray.
  • Freeze the panko coated brie cheese in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a shallow skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  • Fry the mini brie in batches, cooking for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the fried brie and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Serve immediately while the brie is warm and gooey inside. Pair with hot pepper jelly, a fruit compote, honey, or a tangy dipping sauce for extra flavor.
