Ingredients
1boxCrackersClub or Ritz work best
12slices Bacon
1/3cupBrown Sugar
1/3cupMaple Syrup
1/2tspRed Pepper Flakes
1/4tsp Coarse Black Pepper
1jarHot Red Cherry Peppers optional (or jalapenos)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack over the top.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, red pepper flakes (if using), and black pepper. Stir until the mixture becomes a thick paste.
Cut the bacon slices into four equal pieces, ensuring they’ll fit neatly on top of each cracker.
Dip a piece of bacon into the brown sugar and maple syrup mixture, then place it on the cracker, pressing gently so it adheres. Top with a red cherry pepper if desired. Place the cracker onto the wire rack. Repeat this step until the wire rack is full.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked and crispy and the topping is caramelized. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn.
Remove from the oven and let the crackers cool slightly before serving. They will firm up as they cool (be sure to remove them from the wire rack to prevent them from sticking before they fully cool).
Notes
These can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a day.
For added flavor, sprinkle a touch of smoked paprika or drizzle with extra maple syrup or hot honey before baking.
